On my daily walk by Vera Backer

On my daily walk
I came past the wavy river:
The sun was glistening on the ripples
with the light of it burning in my face.
I stopped walking, to capture the image

Oh, how soothing the feeling was to my eyes!

Lately, I have wanted to take you to my favorite spot there,
at nighttime, underneath the moonlight.
The reflection of that and the tiny stars would paint
such a magical scene.

Don’t you think?

On my daily walk, yesterday morning
I came past the wavy river and stopped.
I paused because I saw your reflection in the little ripples.
I stayed there for hours.
Oh, how I have missed to see your face!
On my daily walk
I chose a different route, just today
Oh, how I would have loved to walk past the river!
But the sun decided to hide behind the clouds.

I just stopped by the river and saw your arm reaching out of the water.

I looked and jumped in.
